Coming of Age Film Series at MOPA

The festival opened in January, with a special screening each month through June 2012 of films to celebrate the process and power of aging.  Best of all, it’s free! Last week the film was “Poetry” 2010. The next film is April 12, 6:00 pm – Captain Abu Raed (2007) – An aging airport janitor who is mistaken for an airline pilot by a group of poor neighborhood children weaves fantastical stories to offer hope for a sad, and sometimes unchangeable, reality. To find out more go to MOPA’s website.

Rides & Smiles launches in Carmel Valley

Girl Scouts celebrate 100 years

Over the years, we’ve enjoyed working with various troops from all over the county. Happy Birthday Girl Scouts! I heard that the San Diego County administration building will be lit in green this week to honor 100 years of female scouting.

Romney turns 65

Presidential candidates are seniors too. Busting the stereotype of retirement and sitting in a rocking chair, Mitt Romney continues his campaign for the Republican nomination. Age isn’t a barrier to contributing to our society and fulfilling ones dreams or ambitions.
